The best part of a fig tree isn't the fruit.. smell wise. It's the leaf, and the smell it leaves on your hands, green, sharp, a little bitter, with a milkiness that stays with you.

This candle starts there, then softens. Ripe fruit comes through the middle, warm and sweet, before it settles onto cedar and fig wood, dry and quiet, the part that lingers longest.

Summer under a fig tree, and the shade it throws.

Candle Care

Trim the wick. Your candle arrives trimmed and ready. Before each burn after that, trim the wick to 5mm. A shorter wick means a cleaner, steadier flame.

The first burn matters most. The first time you light it, let it burn for three to four hours, until the melted wax reaches the edge of the vessel. Wax has a memory. Get this first burn right and the candle burns evenly to the end. Cutting the first burn short will result in tunnelling down the middle, wasting both wax and scent.

Keep sessions under four hours. Any longer and the wax overheats, which burns off the fragrance and shortens the life of the candle.

Away from draughts. Burn on a level, heat-resistant surface, out of any breeze. Draughts make the flame flicker, which causes smoke and soot.

Stop at 5mm. When the wax burns down to the last 5mm, retire the candle. Burning below that isn't safe for the vessel or the surface it sits on.

Keep the vessel. Every one is made to be kept. Clean it out and give it a second life however you like, and for some batches and sizes we offer refills. Get in touch and we'll sort you out.
